Mine to Possess

Nalini Singh is one of my favorite authors of paranormal romance. I've been waiting (not so patiently) for her newest installment to come out on Feb. 5th. Mine to Possess looks to be as thrilling and hot as her last 3 of this series.

And shes running a contest on her blog in celebration. Hopefully I didn't see the contest too late to enter. ^.^
write about your favorite romance novel hero(es)* and why you like him/them on your blog, myspace, livejournal etc (how long or short you make the post is totally up to you)

I've too many heroes that stick in my mind to pick only a few... so I'll just pick one and hope I can stick with him and not go on a tangent. lol.

Roarke= yummy Irishman.

I've always loved the J.D Robb stories, of Eve Dallas and her husband Roarke. From the first time he stepped onto the pages and into Eve's life I've adored his character. He's complicated, tenacious and a completely scary bastard when the occasion warrants it, whats not to love? With a killer body, the face of a fallen angel and an elegant primal maleness thats uber delicious its surprising that I don't drool all over the books in the In Death series.

Be sure to check out Nalini Singh's books as well as read up on Roake and his kick ass wife. Until then see ya next time in the WoB.

Breathing After the Smoke

I haven't posted in a few days, having been busy around the house. But that is gonna change after today. Hopefully. Writing in this blog will (once again, hopefully) help exercise my mind and keep me learning new things. Following that line of thought todays post will be about something that strikes close to home to me.

My father has always been a smoker, for as long as I can remember he has had cigarettes blazing and crinkling cellophane wrappers in his pockets or on his dashboard. He has quit the awful habit.. at least twice... but he always fell off the wagon, usually claiming that its hard to not smoke when friends and co-workers do around you. That is until he was diagnosed with emphysema.

Now he can't go anywhere without his inhaler, he can't laugh too hard. Nor can he walk up a flight of steps without stopping for breath or take a hot shower without gasping like a landed fish from the humidity. He is a drywall contractor, and he can only work for short periods of time at a job hes done all his life, and he can't afford to stop or slow down working, because his medicine is so expensive.

I myself have never smoked. Smoking has never looked attractive or cool to me in anyway, nor could I fathom spending so much money on something that would leave me smelling like an ashtray. I've never rebuffed others who do so, usually only moving away when the second hand smoke drifted towards me, I've had no trouble sitting with either of my parents in the smoking section of a restaurant, but now I worry. I worry about the wait staff or what chemicals I'm inhaling in that stream of smoke that passes my face as I breath in.

I guess my point is that smoking has never seemed like the biggest deal. I knew in a peripheral kind of way that it was bad for you, that really bad things can happen to you when you smoke. When my father was diagnosed it brought home the fact that what you do now will affect you for a very long time.

One Stop Link Shop

As I was watching Attack of the Show on G4 the other day they played a short video off of YouTube. Now this is not unusual, and usually its some little viral video that they found surfing, probably at some geek site, but this one caught my attention.

The video is a cover of a REM song, End of the World done with videos of George W. Bush and friends. Really well done, what struck me was the amount of time it would have taken to have it all match up so perfectly.

Going through the directors videos I was just amazed at the complexity of some of the songs, and the creativity needed to do it. The one that struck me the best I think is the cover of Should I Stay or Should I Go, originally by The Clash, redone ala Tony Blair (through the graces of a video editor.)

Its worth a look in my opinion, if only to gasp in shock at the time in front of a computer that goes into an accomplishment like those videos.

**And did y'all like all the action packed links I fit into this post? ^.^**

Its only the beginning....

Whoa. This is interesting. This is my *drum roll please* first... ever... blog post.

*Cheers from the Peanut Gallery*

Yeah, thats right I'm entering into the World of Blog (now known to all and sunder as WoB.) In this new and intimidating arena of words and pictures and... other things, I am a new born babe with an evil cackle already forming upon my tiny dark chocolate covered lips. I can only imagine the destruction and shocked expressions that will issue hence forth to those who read my WoB.

Fear me.

I figure, 'cause this is my blog, I can post whatever the hell I want on it. Ha! So there! So be prepared for anything, for my interests vary immensely and you'll never know where my mind will turn.

Good luck to all y'all in the WoB. I hope to be seeing more of you in the future.
